Расселл Куп является одним из самых ярких специалистов по четвертичным насекомым в ХХ веке, который дал этому направлению энтомологии новый сильный импульс развития, обогатив его многими новыми идеями, новыми методами и новыми приложениями в интерпретациях результатов исследований. В семидесятые годы прошлого столетия это направление испытало подлинный ренессанс и появилось много ярких исследователей, но можно сказать, что влияние Расселла Купа на популярность и будущее всего направления оказалось весьма плодотворным и ощутимым.

Светлана Александровна Кузьмина знала лично этого замечательного ученого и в какой-то мере является его ученицей. Она любезно написала увлекательный очерк о нем, его жизни и его работе, который читается как эссе о науке, личности ученого и его работе.
