Dr. Prirodina V. P.

         Born 26.07.1937 in Nikolaev, Odesskaya region (Ukraine); graduated the Leningrad State University (1965), Dept. Vertebrate Zoology. Diplom thesis on systematic of cretaceous turtles.

1997 - PhD at the State Research Institute on Lake and River Fisheries (GosNIORKh) "Peculiarities of karyotypes of the Antarctic notothenioids fishes of the suborder Notothenioidei with the connections of their taxonomy biodiversity and zoogeography"


         Positions:

1965-Zoological Institute Russian Academy Sciences (Laboratory Ichthyology): technical assiatance, senior techn. ass., junior scientist worker, scientist worker)
1970 up to now - Group of the Antarctic Researches of the Zool. Inst. under the chief Prof. A.P. Andriashev
1972 - is beginning to study the karyosystematic of the Antarctic fishes


         Assimilated the following methodics:

         1. preparation of the histological slides;
         2. injection of the canals of the seismosensorial system;
         3. alizarin clean= and stain of the body skeleton;
         4. macro= and microphotography of the morphological objects and methodics of the karyological investigations

       I. Took part in three palaeontological expeditions in Ukraine, Moldova and in the Middle Asia (1963, 1964, 1965).
      II. Took part in three oceanic and fisheries expeditions in Antarctic and adjacent seas for the collection of karyological and faunistical materials
         1972-1973 - R/V "Academic Knipovich" (Chile, Falkland Islands);
         1975-1976 - R/V "Dmitry Mendeleev" (New Zealand, Australia, Tasmania, Campbell, Macquarie);
         1986-1987 - "Evrica"( Scotia Sea: South Georgia, South Orkney, South Sandwich Isls)
      III. Took part in two expedition on Baikal Lake:
         1980 - R/V "German Titov";
         1988 - R/V "Werestschagin"

         Scientific activity: comparative morphology, systematics, taxonomy, zoogeography, karyology of the Antarctic and the Baikal endemic fishes

         Publications: 30 scientific works.
