Graduated from St.Petersburg University in
1979. Completed Ph.D. project in 1984, entitled "Nocturnal
bird migration over Karakum Desert". In 1986-1993 worked
at the State Nature Reserve "Les na Vorskle" (Belgorod Region,
SW Russia).
Working at the Rybachy Station since 1994.
Main scholary interests are in the field
of bird migration.
1. Spatio-temporal distribution during seasonal
migrations over arid regions of Palaearctic-African migration
system.
2. Ecophysiological and behavioural aspects of migration
and stopovers.
3. Impact of the weather on diurnal and nocturnal bird migration.
4. Relative importance of nocturnal and diurnal migration
in various taxa.
Apart from bird migration,
I am interested in conservation biology and evolutionary
ecology of avifaunas of different regions, in particular
Kaliningrad and Leningrad Regions.
