Это маленькое семейство свойственно только Австралийской области (в частности - фауне острова Тасмания).
Оно включает в себя всего один род с тремя видами.

Наиболее известный вид - Lamingtonium loebli , обитающий в Тасмании.
Жук, длиной 3 мм, обладает развитыми крыльями и способен летать.
Личинка связана с мертвой древесиной и питается грибами - является облигатным сапроксилом.
