Dimeatidae, a new family of the Ascidiacea, with description of a new species of the genus Dimeatus

Abstract. The aberrant abyssal genus Dimeatus Monniot & Monniot has gonads with gonoducts penetrating the tunic and opening directly to the exterior. Dimeatidae fam. n. is characterized by the position of the gut loop under the branchial sac and the unique structure of the gonads.
