New and rare deep-sea snailfishes of the genera Paraliparis and Genioliparis from the western South Atlantic (Pisces, Scorpaeniformes: Liparidae)

Abstract. Two new species of the genus Paraliparis are described: P. aspersus (off Argentina, 800-845 m) and P. tompkinsae (off South Orkney Isls, 1976-2068 m). In addition, three deep-sea Antarctic species are redescribed from new collections: P. mawsoni originally based on the skinned holotype only; P. kreffti first described from juvenile specimens and Genioliparis lindbergi which was known hitherto from the holotype only.
