Helen Roy - Coordinator of Zoological Data & Research | e-mail: hele@ceh.ac.uk | tel: +44 (0)1491 692252

I joined BRC in April 2007 after 10 enjoyable years of lecturing in ecology and entomology. My role in BRC is to coordinate zoological data and research -basically looking after the needs of national zoology recording schemes from the transfer of records to publishing atlases.

I am passionate about ladybirds and much of my research has been on the ecology and behaviour of ladybirds particularly interactions with fungal pathogens. Since 2005 I have jointly coordinated the UK Ladybird Survey (www.ladybird-survey.org) and the Harlequin Ladybird Survey (www.harlequin-survey.org) and I look forward to continuing with this.

My research interests continue to focus on insects (often ladybirds!) in two main areas:

  • invasive species
  • role of fungal pathogens in natural insect populations
