Abstract |
The life cycle of H. koebelei at temperatures of 20, 25,
29 and 32 deg C and photoperiod of 12 hours, was longer in its different
biological phases than that of H. convergens. The threshold temperatures
obtained at the four studied temperatures, were higher for H. convergens
and varied form 9.1 deg C to 15 deg C; for H. koebelei threshold
temperatures were lower with a variation from 2.4 deg C to 13.7 deg C.
Degree-days were lower for the lady bird beetle convergens than for the
other species. Physiological time for the different biological phases of
the two species of Hippodamia, obtained from the threshold temperature of
the female, were higher than those obtained from the threshold
temperatures of the male. H. koebelei deposited a higher number of eggs
than the other coccinellid; however, H. convergens developed a higher
number of viable offspring. The longestived ladybird was H. koebelei at
the different studied temperatures. The sex ratio at 20 deg C was 2.7:1
for the convergens lady bird beetle and 2.8:1 for the other.
diferencias. |
