On the role of rules of ecological parasitology suggested by V.A. Dogiel for general parasitology of plants (phytoparhogenic fungi). P. 94-107.
Creation of the theory of general parasitology of plants cannot be fulfilled without using theoretical achievements of parasitology of animal organisms. In this connection the rules of ecological parasitology, suggested by V.A. Dogiel, are of greatest importance for the theory of plant parasitology. Examples from phytopathology, mycoses of plants in particular, show that the majority of these rules is also true for interrelations of plants with phytopathogenic fungi. Therefore, the rules of ecological parasitology are of general biological significance.

Hystamine in the tissues of Platyhelminthes. P. 108-110.
Histamine in the tissues of Platyhelminthes was determined by separation paper chromotography. The following species were studied: Fasciola hepatica, Hymenolepis nana, Taeniarhynchus saginatus, and Dipylidium caninum. All Platyhelminthes studied were found to contain both free and bound histamine. The greatest amount of free and bound histamine is contained in the homogenous tissues of H. nana. In the tissues of T. saginatus the amount of total and free histamine is two times less than in the tissues of H. nana. In maintaining fascioles (F. hepatica) in vitro lor 24 hours bound histamine disappears completely from the tissues of this species.

On the development and specificity of Dactylogyrus lamellatus (Monogenoidea, Dactylogyridae). P. 125-132.
Dactylogyrus lamellatus is widely spread in pond economies among young instars of the white amur. The development proceeds at a temperature of water from 14 to 29.5°; optimal temperature is 18 to 23°. Eggs of D. lamellatus develop on the bottom of ponds where they hibernate. The duration of egg development at 14 to 18° is about 5 days and at 28 to 29° — about 1.5 day. Larvae become localized at first in the skin of fishes and later on gills. Sexual maturity and formation of chitinous parts begins in 7—8 days after the adhesion to gills. D. lamellatus is strictly specific it was found to parasitize temporarily gills of Hypophthalmichthys molitrix (Valenciennes) only under experimental conditions.

On physiological compatibility of various forms of stem eelworms. II. Crossing of the bulb eelworm and the potato stem eelworm. P. 133-135.
Under experimental conditions the bulb eelworm failed to cross with the potato stem eelworm. Observations on 8 populations of reciprocal onion-strawberry hybrids have shown that hybrid populations did not differ from parental ones in the intensity of breeding and in the structure of helminths.

The effect of marine water of different salinity on Lepeophtheirus salmonis ectoparasite of salmon. P. 136-138.
The reaction of the ectoparasite of salmon, Lepeophtheirus salmonis, to different salinity was studied. The salinity of 16%0 was found to be the limit of the optimal zone for adult crustaceans and nauplii whereas lower concentrations cause mortality of experimental animals.

Nymphal diapause in the tick Ixodes ricinus L. (Ixodidae). III. Photoperiodic reaction in unfed nymphs. P. 139-145.
Behaviour and development of Ixodes ricinus nymphs kept before feeding under different photoperiods (0, 6, 12, 14, 16, 17, 18, 20 and 24 hrs. of light p. d.) at 18 and 25° were investigated. Behavioural patterns were shown to be regulated by a long-day photoperiodic reaction, while the development of engorged nymphs is determined by a short-day reaction before feeding. The threshold is from 16 to 18 hrs of light p. d. in both cases. The increase in temperature results in decreasing of the threshold. The model is proposed which explains the mechanism of inversion in photoperiodic reaction of nymphs.

New and little-known species of Argas Latr. (Ixodoidea, Argasidae) in the fauna of the USSR. P. 146-149.
Argas (s. str.) hermanni Aud., 1827, a new species in the fauna of the USSR, was found in Tajikistan, in Darvaz ridge, in pistache semisavannah (1200—1500 m above sea level). 11 larvae were collected from 2 specimens of Columba livia (L.) The second reliable occurence of A. beklemishevi is from Tajikistan, Dzhilantau ridge, in almond and high-grassy semisavannah (1200 m above sea level). 3 larvae were taken from Neophron percnopterus (L.).

Argas persicus, a reservoir and possible vector of avian tuberculosis. P. 150-152.
The tick Argas persicus is supposed to be a spontaneous carrier of micobacteria of tuberculosis. Cultures of micobacteria were obtained from ticks collected in farms from animals infected with tuberculosis. The ticks were found to be susceptible to avian tuberculosis and to retain the agent over 2 years without changing its virulent properties. Transphase transmission of tuberculosis micobacteria from nymph to imago was established as well as tuberculosis agent migration from the intestine to haemolymph. Argas persicus appears to be a vector of tuberculosis in birds.

On the fauna of chigger-mites (Acariformes, Trombiculidae) from the Transcarpathian region. P. 153-165.
21.277 chigger-mites (6 genera and 15 species) were collected from 1202 small mammals and their nests in the Transcarpathian region from 1958 to 1960. 6 species were recorded from this region for the first time. The key to 8 species of Neotrombicula is given. A new subspecies, Neotrombicula talmiensis carpathicum Schluger et Vysotzkaja, ssp. nov. and new genus, Hirsutiella Schluger et Vysotzkaja, gen. nov. are described.

On some peculiarities in the structure of male genitalia in different groups of fleas. P. 177-181.
Members of several families of fleas were studied. On inner sides of 8th and 9th male's sternites there are peculiar sclerotizations (bands) passing anteriorly into relatively wide plates. The basal plate of 8th and vertical branch of 9th sternite are formed due to a partial iusion along the posterior edge of such inner plate and external dorsal lobe of the sternites. The author considered some possible stages of the evolution of the horizontal branch of 9th sternite in various groups of fleas. The type of attachment of the aedeagus to 9th sternite is one of the most reliable characters in differentiation of different groups of fleas.

On variability of toxoplasm of little-virulent strain. P. 182-187.
There was ascertained the tolerance of the low virulence property in the Czech strain at frequent (in 7 days) passing on white mice. In 6 of 11 series of passages there was observed an increase of strain virulence. Toxoplasms of the parental little-virulent strain fail to cause the immunity to toxoplasms of RH strain. Increasing virulence does not change this property.
