The use of cultivator for registration of the abundance of ixodid ticks (Ixodidae). P. 12-17.
The article concerns the results of registration of ixodid ticks by means of cultivator. The method was found to give an unstable degree of accuracy and can be used only for obtaining very approximate indices of the abundance of ticks.

A new species of the genus Thyas (Hydryphantidae, Acarina) from the North Caucasus. P. 18-25.
Tha larva, deutonymphs and females of the mite Thyas fastus sp. n. are described.

The biology of the flea Ceratophyllus anisus (Aphaniptera). P. 26-29.
The embryonal development of C. anisus carries out at a temperature of 11 to 25 С and at a relative air humidity of 45 to 100%. A temperature from 21 to 25 С and humidity from 75 to 80% are optimal for the development of C. anisus. Under laboratory conditions the reproduction of fleas proceeds at 11 to 25 C. The intensity of egg-laying depends on the environmental conditions. The white mouse and golden hamster were found to be the best hosts for C. anisus.

On the fauna of fleas of small mammals from the Charskaya hollow (Aphaniptera). P. 30-34.
Small mammals from the Chita district (Kalarsky region, Charskaya hollow) were examined. 19 species of fleas belonging to 11 genera were found on them. The genus Ceratophyllus includes the highest number of species (9 species). The finding of C. beljevi Em., 1966 on Alticola macrotis Radde is of great interest. On the whole, fleas found on the small mammals are adapted to forest or boggy-meadow habitats and are mainly represented by east-siberian species of Palaearctic.

The effect of bitoxibacillin on fleas. P. 35-38.
Results of the tests have shown that 5 to 20 mg/g of bitoxibacillin cause the mortality of 63.6 to 69.2% of imago of Xenopsylla cheopis and 88.1 to 94.5% of larvae. The addition of sublethal doses of DDT (0.02 to 0.06 mg/g) to bitoxibacillin increases the mortality of fleas but negligibly.

The distribution of the agent of amoebiasis in various landscape-geographic zones of the Ukraine. P. 39-44.
Over the territory of the Ukraine the agent of amoebiasis is more frequently occurred in zones with a relatively damp (Ukrainian Carpathians — 7.75±2.35%) than with dry climate (Forest-steppe, Steppe, South steppe — from 1.63±0.51 to 2.8±0.64%). People infected with dysentery amoebes are more common in rural (3.1±0.4%) than in urban localities (1.65±0.19%). Urban adult women are infected more often (2.7±0.3%) than men (1.0±0.45%). Adult rural women (4.21±0.8%) and men (4.35±1.3%) are uniformly infected with dysentery amoebes. The infection rate of rural and urban population with the dysentery amoebes increases with age. Maximum number of infections in urban (2.4±0.3%) and rural (4.25±0.69%) localities was reported from adult population.

New species of blood parasites (Haemosporidia, Sporozoa) from birds of Tajikistan. P. 45-47.
ix new species of bloodparasites of the order Haemosporidia are described. The found bloodparasites belong to the genus Haemoproteus Kruse, 1890 and Leucocytozoon Dani-levsky, 1890. The hosts of the parasites are migration and settled birds of Tajikistan.

Helminth fauna of the Okhotsk ringed seal from the Patience Bay and Laperouse Strait. P. 48-55.
Helminths from 186 Okhotsk ringed seals (Pusa hispida ochotensis) caught in April-May of 1974 and 1975 in the Laperouse Strait and Patience Bay were studied. 10 species, 1 immature and 1 larval form of helminths (3 species of cestodes, 4 — of thornyheaded worms and 5 species of nematodes) were registered. Orthosplanchnus, Diphyllobothrium lanceolatum and Pyramicocephalus were found to be erroneously mentioned in literature as parasites of P. hispida ochotensis. Data are given on the extensiveness and intensity of infection, average level of abundance, index of species abundance and index of species variety. The age dynamics of helminth fauna was studied. Two-year investigations have shown that the helminth fauna of the Okhotsk ringed seal does not change definitely in different years. Thus, the quantitative indices of the helminth fauna can be used for differentiation of local populations of pinnipedes.

Polymorphism of embryonic hooks of oncospheres in cestodes of the genera Proteocephalus and Eubothrium. P. 56-60.
An attempt has been made to analyse the variability pattern of embryonic hooks in oncospheres of Proteocephalus and Eubothrium. Hooks of P. exiguus from white fish and vendace, those of P. percae from perch, those of E. rugosum from burbot and those of E. crassum from salmon were under study. It has been established that the variability of these hooks has an ecological pattern. Investigation of the polymorphism of the hook system and mature stages of helminth provides valuable material for studying the population structure of the parasite species.

Vertical distribution of Philophthalmus rhionica (Trematoda, Philophthalmidae) miracidia in water column. P. 61-65.
It has been established as a result of our investigation that miracidia of Ph. rhionica have no timing to the distribution in certain layers of the water column. If there is no photic stimulus, larvae leave gradually the first distribution zone (upper stratum) gathering mostly at the bottom. This process is hardly connected with the positive geotaxis but more likely with the wear miracidia immersion. Undoubtedly, the light stimulus is determinative in the distribution of larvae at depths.

Changes in some physical and chemical properties of haemolymph of Planorbarius corneus (Gastropoda, Pulmonata) at the infection with parthenites of Cotylurus cornutus (Trematoda). P. 66-70.
The infection of Planorbarius corneus L. with sporocysts of Cotylurus cornutus Rud. is accompanied by hypoproteinemia, decrease in the density of haemolymph and by the shift in the reaction of the inner medium of the mollusk's organism to the acid side. A concentration of haemoglobin and its contents in mollusks do not change at the infection.

Volatile fatty acids of Ascaridae and their excretion from white rats with saliva and in other ways. P. 71-75.
By maintaining Ascarids in a medium containing glucose-1-6-14C volatile fatty acids labelled with 14C were obrained. These acids were administered peritoneally to white rats. The excretion of radioactive products with urine, excrements and saliva was studied.

Genetic and physiological compatibility, kariotypes and taxonomy of the stem eelworms. P. 76-81.
On the basis of generalization of our own and literary data on the crossing and kariotypes of stem eelworms the species Ditylenchus dipsaci is regarded herein as a complex of species and forms which are at different atages of intraspecific differentiation and at the stage of formation of new species. A question is raised on the necessity to exclude some forms of stem eelworms from the species and to accord them a distinct species status.

On the host of Nosema fennica (Microsporidia). P. 82-83.
It has been established that the host of Nosema fennica Lom et Weiser, 1969 is Lota lota and not Silurus glanis as was indicated in the primary source.

Specification of the morphology of spores of Myxobolus rotundus (Myxosporidia, Myxobolidae). P. 84-86.
Spores of Myxobolus rotundus Nemeczek, 1911 were studied. Data on morphology and results of statistic evaluation of the main metric characters are given. The non-conformity with the thickness of spores given in the first description and the presence of a small intercapsular appendage are indicated.
