The collection contains images of the nervous and muscle systems of the polychaete Protodrilus flavocapitatus. The images were taken by confocal laser scanning microscopy from whole-mount preparations. The collection includes preparations stained by antibodies against serotonin, alpha-acetylated tubulin and FMRFamide. Muscle fibers were stained by phalloidin. The images are kept on the server of the Zoological Institute RAS (Laboratory of Evolutionary Morphology) and are available from the author.

Body region of the polychete Protodrilus flavocapitatus (Polychaeta, Annelida), ventral side. Immunocytochemical staining of the nervous system (acetylated alpha-tubulin - orange; neuropeptide RF-amide - blue) and histochemical staining for muscles (green).

  More information...

Description: Nervous system and the musculature of the polychete Protodrilus flavocapitatus (Polychaeta, Annelida). The nervous system was stained with antibodies to acetylated alpha-tubulin and FMRFamide. The preparation contains a region of the body corresponding to four segments. It shows the ventral nerve cord, the nerves that extend from the cord, the musculature of the body wall and setae, and cilia in the protonephridial canals.

Staining: acetylated alpha-tubulin, F-actin in muscle fibers (Phalloidin), FMRFamide
