Species: Locusta migratoria (Linnaeus, 1758) Arthropoda Preparation Type: whole mount Prepared: T.V. Kuznetsova Description: Isolated metathoracic ganglion, stained by anterograde transport of a solution of cobalt chloride through the motor branch of the 4th nerve of the metathoracic ganglion. The branch innervates the bifunctional 120th muscle that participates in walking and flight. Method: retro-anterograde transport of cobalt chloride method Method Description: 1.5% solution of cobalt chloride was used. Cobalt chloride was administered by passive transport for 3 days at 4-5 °С and precipitated by ammonium sulphide. The staining was additionally enhanced by silver impregnation.
