Nymphal diapause of I. ricinus L. V. The effect of changes in photoperiodic regime of unfed nymphs on their development after engorgement. P. 481-487.
Experiments on changes in photoperiodic regime of unfed nymphs of Ixodes ricinus L. have shown that mechanism regulating their metamorphosis is affected by processes of short-day sensibilization which take place in a short day and remove the state of potential (long-day) diapause. Due to sensibilization, nymphs prior to engorgement begin to respond to the day length in accordance with the standards of long-day photoperiodic reaction. In unfed four-month and older nymphs only the maintainance or cessation of the state of diapause (morphogenetic or behavioural) is possible while the induction of diapause occurs in an earlier period of their life.

Peculiarities of developmental cycles of listrophorid mites (Sarcoptiformes, Listrophoroidea). P. 488-494.
The paper describes peculiarities of the development of some morphological characters during ontogenesis of listrophorid mites, Listrophorus validus Banks (subfam. Listrophorinae) and Schizocarpus numerosus H. Dub. (subfam. Chirodiscinae). The similarity of their morphogeneses is established and conclusion is made on the identity of their life cycles, despite some complications in the development of the members of the genus Schizocarpus.

Sand flies (Phlebotomidae) of the Sumbar Valley, their epizootological and epidemiological significance. P. 495-498.
Cases of zoonosal cutaneous and visceral leishmanioses were recorded from settlements of the Sumbar River Valley. The fauna of sand flies in this region includes 13 species. Of them, in the Middle Sumbar Phlebotomus mongolensis has the greatest epizootological and epidemiological significance as a vector of leishmanioses agents. The part of Sergentomyia arpaklensis there resolves itself, in general, to the transmission of flagellates among reptiles. In the Upper Sumbar Ph. chinensis subsp. and Ph. major subsp. can be vectors of the agent of visceral leishmaniosis.

On interspecific relations, variability and specific composition of bloodsucking midges of the nubeculosus group of the genus Culicoides (Diptera, Geratopogonidae). P. 499-511.
Studies of natural populations from various geographic zones of the USSR and series of individuals reared from one batch under laboratory conditions show the variation range in species of the nubeculosus group. A new morphological character (the length of spermathecal duct and its shape in the place of its connection with the spermatheca) and peculiarities of the larval structure confirm the species rank of Culicoides nubeculosus, C. reithi, C. puncticollis and have enabled the author to erect a new species, C. longicollis Glukhova.

Morphology of larvae and pupae of Chrysops (H.) vanderwulpi Kröb. and Tabanus geminus Szil. (Tabanidae, Diptera) from the Primorje Territory. P. 512-516.
Larvae and pupae of two species, Chrysops (Heterocrhysops) vanderwulpi Kröb. and Tabanus geminus Szil., that have distinct morphological differences are described.

The structure of the nervous system of Aspidogaster conchicola K. Baer, 1827 (Trematoda, Aspidogastrea). P. 517-523.
The structure of the nervous system of Aspidogaster conchicola K. Baer and its development are described. Acetylcholinesterasa topographically associated with the nervous system is found in A. conchicola. This parasite has a very complex nervous system, especially the innervation of the adhesive disk. In the stucture of the nervous system Aspidogastrea is more close to Digenea than to Cestoidea and Monogenoidea. Aspidogastrea as well as Digenea have no rough nerve plexus that is normally characteristic of the latter.

Revision of some species of the genus Gyrodactylus from fishes from Tadjikistan and Uzbekistan. P. 524-531.
After inspecting all material available in the collections we completed with some important data the original descriptions of Gyrodactylus montanus Bychowsky, 1957; G. mutabilitas Bychowsky, 1957; G. vicinus Bychowsky, 1957 and G. bubyri Osmanov, 1964 and placed in synonymy G. chadzikenti Osmanov, 1964 with G. montanus, G. pusanovi Osmanov, 1965 with G. laevis Malmberg, 1956, G. seravschani Osmanov, 1965 with G. sprostonae Ling Mo-en, 1962. As regards the species G. cyprini Osmanov, 1964, the authorship of the name of this species is still problematic; therefore, unless this problem is solved, the species cannot be placed in synonymy with G. cyprini Diarova, 1964.

Hexabothriids (Monogenoidea) from Far-Eastern skates. P. 532-538.
The paper deals with monogeneans of the family Hexabothriidae from gills of Far-Eastern skates. Comparison of the main characters of examined individuals with representatives of other genera of this family suggest that these individuals belong to the genus Squalonchocotyle though they parasitize the gills of Raja sp. sp. The author erects a new species, S. rajae sp. n.

The effect of splenectomy on the development of trichinellids in white mice. P. 539-541.
Experimental studies have shown that deficiency of spleen functions (splenectomy) in white mice affects the rates of survival of intestinal trichinellids, migrations of larvae and causes a more intensive muscular invasion.

On the distribution of larvae of helminths in plankton animals of the North Sea. P. 542-550.
Three metacercariae of trematodes, one larva of cestodes and two larvae of nematodes were found in various invertebrates from the plankton of the North Sea. Differences in their distribution can be helpful in establishing ways of migration of important game fishes.

The description of two new species of myxosporidians, Myxobolus lotae sp. n. from the burbot and M. cibinae sp. n. from the minnow, and emended description of Chloromyxum truttae from the sea trout and salmon are given.

On experimental studies of Encephalitozoon cuniculi on mice of some inbred lines. P. 559-562.
Studies of mice of eight inbred lines and sublines for the presence of Encephalitozoon cuniculi yielded negative results. Experimental infection has shown that mice of the line CC57W are less resistant and adult ones are more sensitive than young animals and can be used more succesfully than mice of other lines as a model for the isolation of the parasite and its studies under laboratory conditions. While passing on mice the virulence of E. cuniculi increased.
